Bethesda, MD, Aug. 24, 2010

– The Car Care Council Women’s Board (WB) has added a new category to its annual Automotive Communications Awards (ACA) calling for teens to “Show Us Your Wheels” for a chance to win an iPod.

In a video no longer than three minutes, the Women’s Board wants to know why you are passionate about your vehicle and how you maintain it. To enter, post your video to YouTube and fill out the form that is available on the homepage of the Women’s Board Web site at http://women.carcare.org/. Please be sure to include your YouTube video link when submitting the entry form.

There is no charge for entries and the deadline is Friday, Oct. 1, 2010.

In addition to receiving an iPod, the winner’s video will be shown during the Women’s Board award reception on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 during Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week in Las Vegas. The video will also be posted to the Women’s Board Web site.

“We are very excited about the new ‘Show Us Your Wheels’ video contest and can’t wait to see all of the entries,” said Katie Noga, Women’s Board president. “Not only is this a great way for teens to show off their cars, but it’s also a way to get the Women’s Board name out to a whole new generation of vehicle maintainers, as well as raise the awareness level of the automotive aftermarket industry.”

For more information on Show Us Your Wheels, contact Beatrice Livioco at beatrice.livioco@aftermarket.org or call (301) 654-6664.

The Car Care Council Women’s Board has chosen AutoNetTV to receive a 2008 Automotive Communications Award. The AutoNetTV segment titled, “OE vs. Aftermarket”, won in the Business-to- Consumer Video News Release category.

The short video explores common misconceptions about the role of the Automotive Aftermarket in maintenance and repair services as it relates to a new vehicle warranty. Warranty laws are explained along with the practical and economic benefits of having maintenance and repair work performed at local service facilities. Incorrectly, dealership advertisements often leave consumers with the impression that only their technicians are able to properly service a particular make of vehicle and that their brand of parts are required to maintain the vehicle warranty – this is simply not true. “OE vs. Aftermarket” educates consumers on the legality and reality of warranty protection.

“We’re very pleased to receive this award from the Women’s Board,” said Brandon Storrs, AutoNetTV’s Production Manager. “Because women make over half of automotive service decisions, we try very hard to make our programming helpful and entertaining for women.”

The segment plays in the waiting lounges of nearly 5,100 automotive service centers contracted to receive the AutoNetTV programming in the U.S. and Canada. AutoNetTV combines automotive educational content with entertainment pieces from CBS, movie reviews, celebrity interviews and car reviews.

About AutoNetTV

AutoNetTV is the pioneer of automotive television programming for customers in the waiting areas of service centers. Service centers throughout the U.S. receive this custom programming to educate customers on their factory scheduled and preventative maintenance needs, and to improve their waiting experience. AutoNetTV combines fast-paced entertainment with independent editorial content to increase customer satisfaction and improve sales of preventative maintenance and repair services. AutoNetTV is a CBS television program partner and airs segments from popular shows such as Dr. Phil, Entertainment Tonight, Vh1 and CBS News. The approximately one-hour long program provides multiple options for major service chains to also integrate their branded messages within the existing AutoNetTV programming content. AutoNetTV also provides a secondary programming channel, called the Pro Channel, which airs before and after store hours at participating service centers. This program provides business and marketing insights, technical training, and other industry-specific messages devoted to the professionals working in the automotive aftermarket. The Pro Channel is also used by major brands to communicate corporate messages.
